Ingredients

  • 2 small heads of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 2 large cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp water
  • Additional sesame seeds and red pepper flakes for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add broccoli florets and blanch for 3 to 5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
  3. Cool broccoli under cold water to stop cooking.
  4. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-low heat, then add garlic and cook until golden and fragrant (4-5 minutes).
  5. Stir in sesame seeds and sesame oil until seeds turn golden.
  6. Add soy sauce, red pepper flakes, and water, mixing well. Remove from heat.
  7. Combine the garlic-sesame mixture with the broccoli and serve warm, garnished with additional sesame seeds and red pepper flakes.

Notes

This dish is versatile; feel free to add lemon juice or chili flakes for extra flavor. It can be made ahead by blanching broccoli in advance.
