A quick and easy Honey Garlic Tofu recipe that delivers a sweet and savory flavor with crispy tofu cubes coated in a luscious sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 16 oz firm tofu
- 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Press and cube the tofu: Press the tofu for about 30 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut into 1-inch cubes.
- Mix the sauce: Combine honey (or maple syrup), soy sauce, and minced garlic in a bowl and whisk together.
- Coat the tofu: Toss the cubed tofu with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat the oil: In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Fry the tofu: Add coated tofu cubes to the pan and cook for about 5-7 minutes, flipping until golden and crispy.
- Add the sauce: Pour the sauce over the tofu and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, tossing to coat.
- Serve and garnish: Serve hot over steamed rice or sautéed veggies, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
For an even crispier texture, consider double-coating the tofu in cornstarch before frying. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
