A delightful and healthy homemade ginger-orange granola that combines the warmth of ginger, the zest of orange, and crunchy nuts and seeds, perfect for breakfast or snacking.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup raw almonds
  • 1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds
  • 1/3 cup coconut flakes or shredded coconut
  • 3 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 3 tablespoons hemp hearts or ground flax seeds or chia seeds
  • 1 heaping teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt
  • Zest of 12 oranges or 45 cuties
  • 2/33/4 cups pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 275 degrees F.
  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  3. Mix the rolled oats, chopped almonds, sunflower seeds, coconut, sesame seeds, and your choice of hemp hearts or flax seeds in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Add the ground ginger, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt, mixing well.
  5. Zest the oranges into the dry ingredients.
  6. Pour the maple syrup over the mixture, stirring to fully coat.
  7. Spread the granola mixture evenly onto the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 30-40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool completely on the baking sheet before transferring to an airtight container.

Notes

Store granola in an airtight container. It lasts up to a month at room temperature. For longer freshness, consider freezing portions.
