Ingredients

- 250 g (1 1/4 cup) pitted dates
- 180 g (3/4 cup) hot water
- 120 g (1/2 cup) nut or seed butter of choice
- 3 to 4 drops of butter vanilla flavor (optional)
- 100 g (1 cup) almond flour
- 40 g (1/3 cup) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 15 g (2 Tbsp) ground chia seeds
- 100 g (3.5 oz) dark chocolate
Instructions
- Soak the Dates: Add the dates to a bowl and cover them with hot water. Let them soak for about 10 minutes until soft.
- Prepare Your Pan: Line a 20×20 cm (8×8 inch) baking pan with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 180 degrees C (360 degrees F).
- Blend the Mixture: Transfer the soaked dates along with the soaking water to a food processor or blender.
- Add Nut Butter: Include your nut or seed butter and optional butter vanilla flavor. Blend until smooth.
- Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Add in the almond flour, cocoa powder, and ground chia seeds, and pulse until just combined.
- Fold in Chocolate: Chop the dark chocolate and fold it into the batter.
- Spread the Batter: Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
- Bake to Perfection: Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Check with a toothpick for doneness.
- Cool, Slice, and Enjoy: Remove from the oven, cool completely, slice into squares, and serve.

Avoid overmixing to retain fudgy texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
