Ingredients

  • 12 pieces lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375F (190C).
  2. Boil the noodles in salted water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and lay flat to prevent sticking.
  3. In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat and season with salt and pepper.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, dried basil, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper until smooth.
  5. Spoon a layer of marinara sauce (about 1/2 cup) in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer 4 noodles over the sauce.
  6. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, add 1 cup mozzarella, and 1/2 to 3/4 cup marinara. Repeat layering noodles, remaining ricotta, another cup of mozzarella, and more sauce.
  7. Finish with 4 noodles, spread remaining marinara, and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Let ricotta & eggs reach room temperature for smoother blending. Fresh herbs can elevate flavors.
