Description
A heartwarming recipe that layers rich meat sauce, creamy cheese, and aromatic herbs for a classic Italian dish that brings family together.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 pieces lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 piece egg
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375F (190C).
- Boil the noodles in salted water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and lay flat to prevent sticking.
- In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat and season with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, dried basil, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper until smooth.
- Spoon a layer of marinara sauce (about 1/2 cup) in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer 4 noodles over the sauce.
- Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, add 1 cup mozzarella, and 1/2 to 3/4 cup marinara. Repeat layering noodles, remaining ricotta, another cup of mozzarella, and more sauce.
- Finish with 4 noodles, spread remaining marinara, and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Let ricotta & eggs reach room temperature for smoother blending. Fresh herbs can elevate flavors.
