- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, finely chopped
- 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup whole milk
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- Add onion, carrots, and celery; sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened and translucent.
- Stir in garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Add ground beef and pork; cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
- Pour in red wine and simmer until mostly evaporated, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Reduce heat and let it simmer uncovered for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the milk and cook for an additional 30 minutes on low heat.
- Serve over your favorite pasta and enjoy!
