- 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/4 cup blueberry jam
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast with a pinch of sugar. Let sit until foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
- Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: Transfer to a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
- First Rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling: Mix blueberry jam with blueberries and set aside.
- Roll the Dough: Once risen, roll into a rectangle (approximately 12×18 inches).
- Spread the Filling: Spread the blueberry jam mixture over the dough, leaving a small border.
- Create the Roll: Roll the dough tightly from the long side and pinch the seams to seal.
- Twist and Shape: Cut the rolled dough in half lengthwise, twist both pieces together, and place in a greased loaf pan.
- Second Rise: Cover loosely with a cloth and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat and Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Cool and Enjoy: Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
Fresh blueberries create a more vibrant flavor. Make sure your butter is at room temperature for best results.
