A delightful dessert combining tart blackberries with a buttery crust and crunchy crumble that evokes warm memories of summer afternoons.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups frozen blackberries (or fresh, if in season)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine blackberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Toss gently and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Press half of the crumble mixture into the bottom of the pie dish to form a crust. Pour the berry filling over the crust.
  5. Sprinkle the reserved crumble mixture evenly over the topping.
  6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For added flavor, you can customize with vanilla, nuts, or lemon zest. Store leftovers tightly covered for up to 5 days.
