Description
A delicious plant-based twist on classic barbecue flavors, featuring the smoky and sweet goodness of BBQ tempeh.
Ingredients

- 1 8-ounce block of tempeh
- 2 tablespoons grapeseed oil or neutral-flavored oil
- 1/3 batch of Vegan BBQ Sauce (about 1/2 to 2/3 cup)
Instructions
- Slice tempeh crosswise into 1/2-inch thick strips. Optionally steam for 10 minutes to enhance softness.
- Line a cutting board with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Heat 1 1/2 tablespoons of oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat. Cook tempeh slices for 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 minutes until golden. Flip and cook for another 2 1/2 to 4 minutes.
- Wipe the pan, lower the heat, and add BBQ sauce. Simmer for 1-2 minutes.
- Add cooked tempeh back to the pan, tossing for 1-2 minutes until well coated in BBQ sauce. Enjoy!
Notes
For best flavor absorption, allow tempeh to reach room temperature before cooking. Store leftover BBQ tempeh in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
